It's Being Built As We Speak

Concrete's down, the space is taking shape, and Australia's first HTCx is coming to life. Here's a look behind the hoarding at what's landing mid-June.

This isn't a gym with a few sleds in the corner. It's Australia's first dedicated HYROX training centre.

Built from the floor up around the race — the equipment, the layout, the programming. All of it, here in Toowoomba.

HYROX Performance Centre floor plan — The Cave Gym Toowoomba, showing the six-lane sled track, six rubber deadlift platforms, air runners and rowers.

Purpose-Built, Down to the Last Lane

This isn't a few machines pushed into a corner. The HTCx is a dedicated 400m² performance floor designed around the HYROX race format — a full six-lane competition track running down the centre, flanked by strength platforms and a wall of cardio.

  • Six-lane competition sled track running the full length of the floor — race side by side, just like event day.
  • Six rubber deadlift platforms for strength work, lunges, and heavy loading.
  • A full bank of air runners and rowers lining the walls for compromised-running and cardio stations.
  • Dedicated wall-ball, kettlebell, and corner cable tower zones — every station in one space.

Race Day Hits Different

Thousands of athletes, a packed arena, music pumping and a crowd that roars you through every station. HYROX isn't just a workout — it's an event, and the atmosphere is exactly why people sign up again before they've even caught their breath.

How a HYROX Race Works

Every HYROX race on earth is identical: run 1 kilometre, complete one functional station, and repeat eight times over. Same order, same standards, same test — which is exactly why you can train for it with precision.

Specific Training for a Specific Sport

HYROX is a sport with a defined rulebook — specific distances, specific loads, specific movements in a specific order. Generic fitness helps, but purpose-built training on the right equipment is what actually closes the gap between your first attempt and your best time.

At an officially recognised HTCx, your programming is built around the actual demands of the race. You'll train the sled push when your lungs are already working, build grip and pacing strategy for the ski erg, and learn how to manage transitions — the part most people overlook until race day.

Toowoomba has never had a HYROX training environment at this level. Now it does.
